Welcome to Residence Life at Colorado Mountain College

COVID19 Update – November 5, 2020

The Colorado Mountain College Office of Residence Life holds health & safety as our top priority as we make decisions for the upcoming semester. We opened with reduced occupancy in the residence hall for the Fall 2020 semester and will continue with reduced occupancy for the Spring 2021 semester. As we continue to work through the changing recommendations regarding COVID-19, we ask for your patience & flexibility.

Classes: Academic Affairs has worked diligently to deliver classes in a variety of formats to meet health & safety goals. There are several programs that will deliver the coursework fully online and others that will require in person attendance. We encourage you to review your class schedule to determine if living on campus is the right choice for you based on your spring semester selections.

Live on Requirement Waived: In an effort to lower density and to allow students to find housing that is most conducive to their health during COVID-19, Residence Life is waiving the first-year live-on requirement for the 2020-21 academic year. If you are a first year student and you’d prefer to live off campus, please go into the Res Life Portal on Basecamp after November 16 to fill out the Opt-Out form. Once you complete the Opt-Out form & digitally sign, no further action is required.

Singles vs Double occupancy / Room Assignments: We will open the building with 60% single occupancy rooms and 40% double occupancy rooms which decreases the capacity of the building by 30%. In order to distribute residents evenly throughout the building, you may not receive the exact room number, floor or view requested.

For students in double occupancy rooms, your room number and your roommate’s contact information will be sent to your CMC email address in January.

For students requesting a single room, there is an additional charge of $1050 for the semester. Single rooms are limited and based on availability at the time the Housing Agreement is completed. If a single room is not available, CMC will match you with a roommate and provide your roommate’s contact information to you in January.

Apply for Housing: Applications for the Spring 2021 semester will be available on the Res Life Portal on Basecamp starting November 16. Applications for the 2021-2022 academic year will be available in mid-March 2021.

Dining Services: Grab-n-Go meals will be provided for Steamboat & Spring Valley. Dine-In & Grab-n-Go meals will be provided at Leadville.

Move-In: Due to COVID-19 recommendations regarding social distancing, a specific move-in time will be assigned. Information regarding your specific time will be sent to your CMC email address in January. We encourage you to bring fewer possessions for an easier move-in experience. Move-in help will be limited to one person per student. Please plan accordingly. Masks will be required.

  • Steamboat Springs Campus: 9AM-1PM Thursday, January 14, 2021
  • Spring Valley Campus: 8AM-3PM Friday, January 15, 2021
  • Leadville Campus: TBD

COVID-19 Policies: We have developed safety procedures to include social distancing requirements, masks, limited attendance at events, etc. A Supplemental Housing Agreement, outlining COVID-19 policies, is included in the Res Life Portal. You will be required to agree to abide by these policies to live in the residence hall for the spring semester. We need to work together for the safety of our entire campus community. Are you prepared to wear a mask anytime you are outside of your residence hall room? If no, the residence hall is not the right choice for you this year.

Just Getting Started at CMC: Please contact the Campus Coordinator of Enrollment Services at your campus for New Student Registration & Orientation Information.

As much as we want campus life to return to normal, we know that we need to adjust to what college life means during a pandemic. Please monitor your CMC email address for additional information. If state or local government &/or CMC Leadership prohibits the residence hall from opening, we will contact you immediately. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you in January.
